Onboarding
Section titled “Onboarding”When you first sign in, Slate opens a welcome dialog that walks you through two short steps: brand personalization, then a starting point for your first course.
Step 1: Brand personalization
Section titled “Step 1: Brand personalization”Paste your website URL and Slate scans the page for your logo, brand colors, and site name. A preview appears after a second or two:
- Logo - a thumbnail of what Slate found. Click Replace to upload your own (PNG, JPG, WebP, or GIF up to 2 MB) or Remove if the wrong image was picked up.
- Colors - up to six suggested swatches taken from the site. The most likely brand color is preselected. A custom color picker is always available so you can pick any color, including ones that didn’t show up.
- Site name - used as the name of the saved theme preset.
When you click Use this brand, Slate uploads the logo to your media library, saves the colors and logo as a theme preset, and marks the preset as your default. New courses you create will start with this theme automatically.
If you’d rather not paste a URL, two skip paths are available:
- No website? Skip this step - inline on the input page. Advances straight to step 2.
- Skip in the preview - discards the result and advances to step 2.
If Slate can’t find a clean brand on your site, the error message offers a Set up your brand manually button. That takes you to the same preview screen with an empty logo tile and the custom color picker, so you can build the preset by hand.
You can always edit colors, logo, and fonts later from any course’s Theme page. The brand step is a head start, not a permanent choice.
Step 2: Pick a starting point
Section titled “Step 2: Pick a starting point”Three ways to create your first course:
- Generate with AI (recommended) - describe your course topic and let AI build a full draft for you. Costs 1,250 AI credits, comfortably inside the 1,500 credits new accounts get each month.
- Import a course - upload a SCORM package from Rise, a previously exported Slate course, or a LESSON.md bundle.
- Start from scratch - create a blank course and build it yourself.
Generate with AI is featured at the top of the dialog with the Slate brand mark, since it’s the fastest way to see what Slate can produce. A See how credits work disclosure underneath shows the per-feature credit cost breakdown, and a small Language indicator lets you switch the draft language before generating.
If you’d rather look around first, use Skip for now in the dialog’s top-right corner. The dashboard empty state then takes over: a “Your blank slate awaits.” headline, a Generate with AI primary button, and quiet underlined links for import a course and start from scratch. The same three paths stay one click away.
You can always create more courses later using any method.
Profile settings
Section titled “Profile settings”Access your profile settings from the user menu in the top-right corner of the dashboard.
- Display name - your name, shown on the dashboard and in review comments
- Role - your professional role (optional)
- Password - change your password (requires your current password)
- Default source language - your preferred language for new courses produced by Slate. AI Chat and AI-generated lessons default to this language, and new courses start with this as their source. Pick from 15 supported languages. Change it any time. The Slate authoring interface itself is currently available in English only; this setting controls the language of course content, not the Slate UI.
- Slate AI - save Course context and Image prompt preferences that apply automatically across AI features (Standard and Pro plans)
Deleting your account
Section titled “Deleting your account”You can permanently delete your account from Settings > Profile. Click Delete account, review the warning, and type DELETE to confirm.
Before deletion, Slate asks you to resolve anything that needs attention first, such as an active subscription or a team workspace where you are the owner. Once deletion completes, your account, courses, lessons, uploaded media, saved templates, themes, comments, reviews, and shared links are removed.
