Referrals
The Referrals page in Settings gives you a one-click link to share with friends and coworkers. When someone signs up with your link and generates their first course, you both earn 1,000 bonus credits. The credits never expire.
Read the launch announcement on the Slate blog: Refer a friend, earn 1,000 credits.
Opening the Referrals page
Section titled “Opening the Referrals page”Open Settings from the user menu, then click Referrals in the sidebar (between Credits and Team).
The page has three parts:
- Your referral link with a one-click Copy button. Share it anywhere: email, Slack, social, a slide at the end of a webinar.
- How it works - a short explanation of the reward and a reminder that referral credits never expire.
- Your referrals - three counters: Signed up, Generated a course, and Credits earned.
How the reward works
Section titled “How the reward works”Signing up isn’t enough on its own. Your friend has to actually try Slate by generating their first course with AI. Once they do, both bonuses are added to your accounts straight away.
| Step | You get | Friend gets |
|---|---|---|
| Friend signs up with your link | - | - |
| Friend generates their first course | 1,000 bonus credits | 1,000 bonus credits |
The bonus credits sit in your account as top-up credits, separate from your monthly allowance. They don’t expire at the end of the month and they’re not removed if you change plans.
To see the bonus, open the Credits page and look for the Referral reward entry. The Generated a course and Credits earned counters on the Referrals page also tick up the moment the bonus is added.
What your friend sees
Section titled “What your friend sees”Your friend doesn’t need a code or a coupon. Slate remembers who shared the link, so the bonus is set up automatically once they sign up.
- On the sign-up page, a short line above the form mentions the 1,000-credit bonus they’ll earn when they generate their first course.
- During onboarding, a welcome step confirms the offer before they move on to brand personalization.
- The first time they sign in after generating their first course, a short message in the corner of the screen confirms the bonus: “You earned 1,000 bonus credits. They never expire.”
Your friend never sees your name and never sees the size of your reward. They only see what they themselves earn.
Privacy
Section titled “Privacy”Your referrals section shows numbers only. Slate never shows the names or email addresses of people who signed up with your link, and your friends never see who referred them.
Plan availability
Section titled “Plan availability”Referrals are available on every plan. Free, Standard, and Pro users can all share links, and Free, Standard, and Pro users can all earn the bonus. A single successful referral effectively doubles a Free account’s first month of credits.
There’s no cap on how many friends you can refer or how many bonuses you can earn.
