Slate for Canva
Slate for Canva is a Canva app that converts presentations into structured, interactive eLearning courses using AI. Design in Canva, configure your course parameters, and export as SCORM to any LMS.
How it works
Section titled “How it works”- Design in Canva - create or open any Canva presentation. Use your existing templates, brand assets, and design tools.
- Configure your course - launch the Slate app from Canva’s side panel. Set your target audience, course duration, learning objectives, and preferred tone.
- Generate with AI - AI extracts your presentation content and generates a structured, interactive eLearning course complete with lessons, interactions, and optional assessment questions.
- Edit and export - your course is saved to your Slate library. Refine it in the Slate Builder, then export as SCORM to any LMS.
What the Canva app can do
Section titled “What the Canva app can do”AI-powered conversion - intelligent content extraction turns static slides into structured lessons with interactions, knowledge checks, and proper learning flow. You control how many assessment questions to include (1 to 10) or skip assessments entirely.
Configurable output - set course title, duration, target audience, learning objectives, tone, and assessment question count. The AI adapts the output to your specifications.
Default theme support - if you’ve set up a default theme in the Slate Theme Editor, the app can apply it to your generated course automatically. Colors, fonts, and styling carry over so every course matches your organization’s visual identity.
Empty design detection - if you open the app on a blank design or new document, it shows helpful guidance instead of letting you fill out the form with nothing to convert. You can add content and check again without leaving the app.
Multi-language ready - courses created through the Canva app support Slate’s AI translation to 10+ languages with single multi-language SCORM export.
Universal LMS export - export to SCORM 1.2, SCORM 2004, xAPI, cmi5, HTML, or PDF. Your converted courses work with any learning management system.
Automatic tagging - every course generated through Canva is automatically tagged with canva in your Slate library, making it easy to filter and find your converted courses on the dashboard.

Section titled “Cross-app workflows with MCP”If you use the Slate MCP Connector, you can also go in the other direction: extract course content from Slate and build slide decks in Canva using the get_presentation_content tool. Your Slate theme colors carry over automatically.
