Custom AI Prompt
Set a custom prompt to personalize how Slate’s AI works for you. Your instructions apply to every AI conversation and generation, shaping tone, language, terminology, and content focus. Standard
Setting up your custom prompt
Section titled “Setting up your custom prompt”- Open Settings from the user menu
- Select the AI section
- Enter your instructions in the text field (up to 500 characters)
- Click Save
Your prompt takes effect immediately on all new AI conversations and generations.
What it affects
Section titled “What it affects”Your custom prompt influences:
- AI course generation - the conversation and the generated course content
- AI lesson generation - the conversation and the generated lesson content
The AI treats your prompt as known context about you and your preferences. If you specify a location, the AI will use it automatically instead of asking. If you specify a tone, it becomes the default.
Example prompts
Section titled “Example prompts”Here are some examples of effective custom prompts:
- “Always use British English spelling. Focus on healthcare industry examples.”
- “Our company is based in Canada. Use a direct, concise tone. We work in financial services.”
- “Write for a technical audience familiar with software development. Keep explanations brief.”
- “Use Australian English. Include examples relevant to the mining and resources industry.”
Availability
Section titled “Availability”The custom AI prompt feature is available on Standard and Pro plans. Free plan users see an upgrade prompt in the AI settings section. Team workspace members have access regardless of their personal plan tier.
Clearing your prompt
Section titled “Clearing your prompt”To remove your custom prompt, click Clear in Settings > AI. AI conversations will return to Slate’s default behavior.
